Sneak Peek

Exciting news to come...and no, its not that we are offering Tai Chi in our parking lot :-)

A Spring in Your Step

For some women it is the first thing that pops into their minds when putting together their wedding ensemble.  For others, it is the last.  We're talking about shoes, of course!  Shoes can be more than a pretty cover for your feet.  With wedding gowns, they can complete the bridal picture.  There are several companies we carry, including Pink and Dyeables.  We recommend to start thinking about shoes before you start the alteration process, preferably after your gown comes in from order.  Shoes generally take 4-6 weeks to order in, especially if you are having them custom dyed.  It can be very fun to add a pop of color to your whites and ivories!
One of our brides from last year.  Lovely shoe choice!

The "Other" Dress

Engagement pictures can be so much fun for the bride and groom.  It is the opportunity to capture a range of emotions from funny to sweet to romantic.  The Royal Family just released the official engagement pictures for Prince William and Kate Middleton.  Very gorgeous and classy dress choice!  We recommend choosing a dress that makes you feel comfortable but elegant at the same time.  This is like a preview to your wedding!  Choosing an informal, bridesmaid style in a subtle color would look great.  Keep in mind you can always pull double duty and wear the gown as your rehearsal dinner dress too!

More Enzoani!

Hooray!  We have received more stock wedding gowns from Blue by Enzoani.  We are supremely impressed with the high level of craftsmanship displayed in these dresses.  They look even better on, so it is highly recommended that you brides come in quick to try these beauties on!

Dalby

Dalby has a classic, old Hollywood feel to it.  The gown is a confection of tulle and lace.  The crystal beaded belt is attached to the gown, but can definitely be changed to a ribbon if bling isn't your style.  The skirt swirls out in tiers of lace.

To top it all off, Dalat is accessorized with a some pearls and crystals from Meg.  The exaggerated, circle cut veil from Giselle gives you the perfect amount of airiness and charm.  Very Grace Kelly!
Dalat

Dalat hits the mark in terms of mixing modern taste with classic style.  The gown is made of lace and organza, with the waist accented with an attached belt, very similar to their Farlow belt.  The skirt has a subtle lace overlay that skims the hips for a very flattering look.

This gown is best paired with gobs of pearls and a Mantilla veil by Bel Aire Bridal.

Casablanca

Casablanca is a fitted, mermaid style gown.  The skirt of the gown is covered in delicate lace.  The top is a ruched mix of chiffon and lace.

The look is completed with great pearls from Elan a Porte and Meg Jewelery.  The fun headpiece, from En Vogue, gives the classic gown a pop of fun.

Think Pink!

Normally, when you read through the Wall Street Journal, you're not expecting to read something that could effect your wedding color choice.  This morning the unexpected happened!  According to WSJ, "color authority," Pantone has deemed honeysuckle the hot, new color.  In recent seasons, The Dessy Group partnered with Pantone and have made several of their gowns available in Pantone's best colors.  Honeysuckle is described as very bright, "60's lipstick" pink.  Hopefully we will be seeing some of Dessy's bridesmaid gowns in this fabulous, honeysuckle color!

Meet the Staff, Pt. 7

The newest member of our staff has brought a lot of nostalgia to the store.  Shelly is one of our sales consultants and seems to know everyone who walks through the door.  "The craziest encounter I've had so far is when I met one of my brides and it turned out we played soccer together in elementary school!"  She has been with Mia's since August and is quickly learning the ins and outs of our store.  "All the gowns are so beautiful, but I realized that just because it is beautiful, doesn't mean it will translate on to every bride.  Preferences and personal style are so important."

"I am really looking forward to start having bridal parties complete their arc with me.  It will be fun to see one of my brides when it is finally her wedding week."

Fairy Tale

Casablanca #2035 is one of our wonderful, new stock gowns.  It has a very flattering baby doll bust and then the skirt just floats down with a heavenly, netted skirt.  The netting is embroidered and beaded.  The gown strikes us very fairy like...soft and ethereal.  Maybe you'll actually float down the aisle?

It pairs great with Bel Aire veil #V7013 and Meg's Mae necklace.

Meet the Staff, Pt. 6

Lets catch up with our resident silver polisher and visual coordinator, Andrea.  She has been with our store for nearly two years as a bridal consultant.  Nearly a year ago, she was made our store's visual coordinator after the amazing work she did designing our booth at the Perfect Wedding Guide Bridal Show.  "I like it that twice a year I can create an atmosphere that is inviting for brides to learn about our store at a chaotic event.  PWG is a fun time, but can be overwhelming for some."

Andrea's passion for vintage and recycled items is evident in her work.  This past spring her window displays were created from used soda bottles and she scoops up vintage wedding gowns for inspiration.  "Maybe its the bargain shopper in me, but I now have two vintage wedding gowns for whenever it is that time for me to walk down the aisle."  Is that time close?  "Not until they can clone Burt Reynolds circa 1980."

Icing on the Cake

It is always important for a bride to try her wedding gown on after it arrives in from order and BEFORE she starts alterations.  We recommend a Finishing Touches appointment for all brides.  This is an opportunity for the bride to try on her very own dress and sample some accessories with them at the same time.  It always make the wedding process more real when you can actually feel a dress in your size and preferred color.  Veils can be tried on in matching colors, necklaces and earrings will coordinate so much better.

We carry numerous jewelry lines in our store.  One of our favorites is Meg Jewelery.  The designer, Meg Lammers, is so creative and classic - all at the same time.  We normally host a trunk show with Meg twice a year and she is wonderful with customizations!  Her pieces use Swarovski crystals, fresh water pearls, and sterling silver.  Her items are definitely heirloom quality and it is nice to know you can be the beginning of a family tradition.

J'adore!

As mentioned previously, we LOVE the winter around here because it means new gowns for in the store.  Today was especially great because we now have two new gowns which are unlike anything else here.  The first is Jasmine T435.  This gown is for the bride who loves attention because that is what this big, fun skirt demands!  The belt is detachable and comes is a variety of colors.  We love the contrast with the black.

The other gown is Mori Lee 6701.  We love the hi-lo hemline, which keeps the gown fun and perfect for showing off some killer shoes.  It reminds us of Sex and the City...very Carrie Bradshaw-esque, no?  And of course, since it is a Mori Lee, the price tag is under $600.  That is a price every fashionista can appreciate!
