How to Get the Gown of Your Dreams

When our Bride, Brooke came into the shop to search for her wedding gown, she had a very clear picture in her mind of what she wanted; a fitted lace gown with cap sleeves, a low back, and a sweetheart neckline.  Once she tried on a few dresses, she fell in love with Dillon from Blue by Enzoani.
With Mia's expert tailoring skills, Brooke was able to customize her strapless gown into the dress she had dreamed about.  Mia started by creating a sweetheart neckline and lowering the back of the gown, then she used trim lace to create the cap sleeves and a dramatic V-back.
Brooke was thrilled with the results and so are we!  Small changes to an already beautiful gown gave her a custom, one-of-a-kind dress to wear on her big day!  Not to mention, the gown is perfectly on trend with the styles we saw at Bridal Market this year!
Congratulations Brooke and Gus!

New Traditions

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something.....DIY!?  Many Brides are putting a new spin on the traditional wedding must-haves by breaking out their glue guns and scissors.  DIY wedding accents are a great way to bond with your wedding party through crafting, and save some money on the decorations.  A new tradition that we love is the Vintage Brooch Bouquet.

The Brooch Bouquet is a great way to add a touch of whimsy to your wedding day, and can coordinate with any wedding theme from the very traditional to casual beachy.  They are a great way to incorporate pieces of family jewelry and honor loved ones who can't be there, not to mention it covers your something old and borrowed requirements!
What "new traditions" are you starting for your wedding?  We'd love to hear your ideas!

Lovely in Lace

Dessy #6631
Soft, vintage inspired lace gowns are always in high demand for wedding gowns, but this year we are loving all of the bridesmaid gowns coming in with a touch of lace!  It's a great way for the bride to carry the look throughout the wedding party and compliment her gown, plus it adds a sweet, vintage look.  Many of our designers have incorporated the look into their fall lines, check out our facebook page to see more examples, or book an appointment to see them in person!

Summer 2012 Wedding Color Palettes

Every Spring, Pantone Color releases their trend report for the must-wear colors of the season.  These fashion-forward shades often spill over into the bridal world as well, and this summer we've seen many wedding party sporting tones similar to Pantone's Bellflower, Tangerine Tango, and Sodalite Blue.
Purple Reign
Bellflower is a soft violet shade, and we love all the purple we've seen this summer.  From the lightest lilac to deep eggplant, this shade is lovely by itself, or paired with a sunny yellow for contrast.

Coral Blush
Tangerine Tango is a bold splash of orange and we've seen our brides using everything from a soft coral to the bold red-orange of poppies.

Royal Blue (Rock Chalk Jayhawk!)
Sodalite Blue is a bright, sapphire tone that can once again pair great with any color scheme.  We've seen a few Jayhawks themed wedding parties that love this color as an accent!

You can order a gown in any of these color options with Mia's through the Dessy Group!  They have exclusive Pantone color options available through the Dessy and After Six collections.
